100 years of impact

International Code Council members are central to our mission, inspiring us to enhance resources and deliver exceptional customer experiences. In 2024, we welcomed new chapters and members, offered new resources like an online member community and members-only library. We hosted our first ICC Leadership Week, providing new opportunities for networking and professional growth. We also expanded our training and credentialing programs, added new PRONTO in-person test centers and celebrated 78 newly-credentialed Master Code Professionals. Here’s a look at how we supported our members and customers in 2024.

Special Events

Inaugural World Water Awareness

Raised awareness of the collective responsibility to address the global water crisis through long-term water conservation efforts and the role codes and standards have to play in safeguarding drinking water.

Released findings of the University of Miami report, Water Conservation and Codes, that underscored the critical need for municipalities to adopt updated water conservation standards contained in the 2021 International Water Conservation Code Provisions® (IWCCP).

ICC Leadership Week + Committee Action Hearings

The inaugural member event in Orlando, Florida, featured keynote speeches, industry-leading conversations, networking opportunities, and sessions developed specifically for leaders in the building safety and construction professions.

59 chapter officers attended the Chapter Leadership Academy.

Group A code hearings introduced a restructured code development process for the 2027 I-Codes.

Annual Conference, Expo and Hearings

Building safety professionals from around the world gathered in Long Beach, California, for the biggest conference in Code Council history. Keynote speakers and panels of industry experts discussed the Code Council’s 30-year history and shared insights on how the industry can lead the way forward. Code Council members honored outgoing CEO, Dominic Sims, for his years of dedicated service and remarkable contributions to the organization.

Chapters

Released a new suite of member benefits: online member community, member transcript, members-only library, single-sign-on access to job board, State of the Industry Report survey.

Hosted the inaugural Tribal Codes Summit with the Native American Code Officials (NACO) to support tribal nations in exercising their sovereignty by leveraging model codes to meet their safety and resilience goals.

Launched series of quarterly webinars to help chapters take advantage of benefits specific to chapters including the Chapter Rewards Program.

Improved redemption process for Chapter Education Benefit.

Code Council staff supported or attended 650+ chapter meetings.

Code Council Scholarships

The Code Council Scholarships program was revitalized to support the education of members and their families, foster career advancement and encourage participation in code development. Available scholarships include:

  • Emory R. Rodgers Leadership in Building Safety Fellowship.
  • Building Safety Leadership Experience.
  • Code of Honor expanded to include Committee Action Hearings.
  • Sponsored Scholarships for children of members.

Legislative Highlights

Successfully supported the adoption of ICC/MBI Standards 1200 and 1205 for off-site construction in Virginia, Utah, Montana, Rhode Island and Colorado.

Former Code Council Board President Cindy Davis testified on behalf of ICC before the U.S. House Subcommittee on Emergency Management on Federal Emergency Management Agency’s mitigation programs and codes’ effectiveness.

Signed an updated MOU with FEMA administrator.

Increased candidate choice by adding new in-person test center option, available at 500+ locations.

2024 certification examination suite launched for a total of 182 certification exams currently offered to our members and customers.
