Codes & Standards
For over 30 years, developing building codes and standards has been at the heart of our mission. In 2024, we completed and initiated several new standards to enhance the safety and efficiency of the built environment. We also strengthened collaborations with key organizations to drive best practices and expand industry education worldwide. Here’s a look at our top achievements in 2024 as we continued to lead the way in building safety and innovation.
Standards
Developed and published the first edition of ICC 903/SRCC 500: Solar Tank Standard.
Began a new development project for ICC 1125: Standard for Classification of Magnesium Oxide Boards in Building and Construction.
Completed the update of ICC A117.1: Standard for Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities.
Began a new bi-national development project for standard ASC/ICC A118: Acoustics of the Built Environment, in conjunction with Accessibility Standards Canada.
Plumbing, Mechanical and Fuel Gas
Submitted ANSI PINS for four new PMG-related standards (ICC 820, ICC 1600, ICC 1670, and ICC/CHS 1700) to further the Code Council’s reputation as a global PMG thought leader.
Established relationships with over 28 PMG-focused organizations from around the world, including 3 formalized agreements (Hydraulic Consultants Association of Australasia, InterSport, LLC, and the U.K. Bathroom Manufacturers Association).
Launched the bi-monthly PMG Newsletter to provide readers with updates on Code Council PMG initiatives and industry news spanning the globe.
